ED 408
Spring 2014 Dr. Janice Newlin Tech Tools
We started using Feedly, a news aggregator that compiles newsfeeds from selected websites & organizes them into a daily thread for you to quickly & easily access from any device.
In this class we also set up a Classroom Monitoring Portal through Symbaloo. Creating compilations of education resources with this site allows you to access your "bookmarks" from any device & is great for keeping up with great resources you might want to file away for later use.

This course used the text Flattening Classrooms, Engaging Minds by Dr. Julie Lindsay.
Flat Connections Global Project 14-1In this course, I was given the opportunity to serve as an Expert Adviser for this year's Flat Connections Global Project. It was an overwhelmingly rewarding experience; to get the chance to participate in the application & implementation of each week's text reading was the best way to learn the material hands-on. We were connected in many different ways; we had both our group Ning pages, as well as the Wiki pages that we communicated & worked collaboratively on this project- the final product being a combined e-book discussing all the different facets of the findings from the NMC Horizon Report of Emerging Technology in Education. Additionally, there are support pages such as the Diigo page for instructors & organizers. The entire project was very well organized; Julie Lindsay & her teams know what they are doing & how to make it happen! The following is a You-Tube video about the first Flat Classroom Conference that took place in Qatar.
